VETERANS MONUMENT

VETERANS MONUMENT

Veterans Tribute

The Calvert Hall Tribute honors all members of the Calvert Hall family who have served in any branch/component of U.S. Armed Forces since the school’s founding in 1845. The tribute consists of a physical monument designed by Gaudreau Architects and a website which provides the names and service details of the veterans. The physical monument is a permanent structure made of brick and concrete that features an American flag, a cross with bible verse, and the medallions of the five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. It is located near the entrance to Keelty Hall. The website can be accessed at https://veterans.calverthall.com/veterans-database/.

Honoring Our Brothers

The proposal was welcomed by the Office of Advancement, and a series of meetings with the Administration commenced in 2017. The initiative has also enjoyed the endorsement of the Alumni Association. The Office of Advancement maintains overall project management.

The initial group of six evolved into the Tribute Advocacy Group (TAG) in 2017.

The idea for the Tribute began with six Vietnam veterans of the Class of 1965, in September 2016.

The mission of the TAG is to advise and assist CHC, as needed, in all aspects of the project.

Today the TAG proudly counts 350 members (both veterans and non-veterans), representing a range of class years. They reside in various locations across the U.S. Membership is open to anyone interested within the Calvert Hall community (alumni, family, and friends), regardless of veteran status.

Volunteers are needed to assist with:
• Alumni veterans historical research
• Video Display, content, and database development

Anyone interested in assisting should contact Doug Heidrick ’89, Director of Annual Giving, at  410-825-4266 ext. 167 or heidrickd@calverthall.com.
